Jasper County authorities say an inmate is back in custody after he tried to escape along I-44 in Springfield.
The sheriff’s office says the inmate was being transported through Springfield when he kicked the back glass out of the van he was in near Chestnut and I-44.
He was quickly captured.
He ended up with some minor cuts from the broken glass.
No sheriff’s deputies were hurt.
