Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott took a trip to the site of the new jail.
Arnott toured the building and stood in the spot where his new office will be.
He also had the chance to lay a concrete block.
The jail is being built near the Springfield-Branson National Airport.
It should be finished by 2022.
