Those who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and have had contact with someone who has the virus will not have to quarantine according to Greene County Health Officials. The change in policy has come after the CDC released new guidance on COVID and vaccines.
There are a few additional criteria, which are listed below.
- It must have been at least 14 days since the final dose of the vaccine was given (for two-dose vaccines, the latter of the two doses, and for one-dose vaccines, the first and final dose.)
- It must be no more than 90 days since that final dose.
- The person who has had contact does not display symptoms
- The person who has had contact is not a resident at a long-term care facility.
Traditional guidelines apply if you do not fit all criteria.
The 90-day stipulation is out of precaution, since it is the expected minimum efficacy period for the vaccine. Concerns exist on whether the vaccine will behave differently in different populations, so authorities err on the side of caution.
