(KSGF News) — Darin Chappell has won a hard fought race for the Missouri House District 137.
Chappell faced off against Thomas Barr in a tight race.
Mr. Chappell took 50.831% of the vote, and Mr. Barr took 49.169% of the vote.
The percentage difference between the two was 1.66% and not eligible for a recount. Greene County Clerk, Shane Schoeller, said “The margin for a recount to take place prior to certification is less than one-half of one percent.”
In a post on Facebook, Mr. Chappell wrote “What a night! A little while ago, I received a call from my opponent, conceding the race. Tom was kind, as always, and we both agree that we proudly were above slinging any mud in our campaigns!”
Darrin continued, “This was an extremely hard fought battle, and it was only because of the hard work, financial contributions, word of mouth, get out the vote efforts, and the PRAYERS of countless people, that this victory was gained for His glory! I thank each one that helped in so many ways, and begin the process of preparing to represent the 137th District with dignity and honor.”
