(KSGF) – On September 15, the Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial will hold a candlelight vigil in honor of POW/MIA Recognition Day.
The vigil is set to begin at 7 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial located in Perryville, Mo.
The Welcome Center and museum will be open twice that day, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and then again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There are over 81,000 service members who are still missing in action, according to Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial.
POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday of September as a way to pay tribute to the Americans who served and never returned home, as well as to those who were held as prisoners of war.
