(KTTS News) – A woman from Republic has died after a weekend accident on I-44.

The highway Patrol says the accident happened at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday near mile marker 123 in Laclede County.

Officers says the accident happened when a vehicle that was carrying four passengers traveled off the left side of the road, overcorrected, and then overturned.

42-year-old Crystal Hassett was thrown from the vehicle and then hit by another vehicle. That unknown car continued driving west on I-44. 

The other passengers were taken to a local hospital in Springfield with minor injuries.
