The National Weather Service in Springfield (NWS) has issued a cold weather advisory.
The Counties impacted include:
- Barry
- Barton
- Cedar
- Christian
- Dade
- Greene
- Jasper
- Lawrence
- McDonald
- Newton
- Polk
- St. Clair
- Stone
- Taney
The advisory remains in effect until 10 AM, and was issued because we will see cold wind chills as low as 5 to 10 below.
The cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly1
