(KTTS News) — Federal, state and local agencies are investigating after a natural gas explosion in southeast Springfield knocked out electricity and natural gas service.
Three Springfield City Utilities workers ended up with minor injuries Monday after a natural gas main exploded and caught fire.
CU says those workers were doing maintenance when a valve somehow failed.
A spokesman says a rock falling on a pipe may have sparked the fire.
Crews let it burn itself out.
Power and gas was restored in the area by Tuesday.
