(KTTS News) — The voice of the Bears, Hall of Fame broadcaster Art Hains, plans to do home games for football and men’s basketball this season as he recovers from the effects of the West Nile virus.

Hains is also doing Kansas City Chiefs pre-game and post-game shows.

Crews at Missouri State have been working on making things ready for Hains to return.

Hains, who’s 67, is paralyzed and has undergone months of rehabilitation.

He got the virus from a mosquito bite.

The Missouri State Bears football team opens its season tonight on the road against the Kansas Jayhawks.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
