The Springfield Fire Department has released the name of the man who died in this morning’s house fire near Elm and Hillcrest.
Craig Mackie was 30.
Fire investigators say the fire was an accident.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
There were no working smoke detectors in the home.
Springfield Fire Department has identified the man who died this morning in a house fire in the 2900 block of West Elm as 30-year-old Craig W Mackie. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but initial indicators are that it was accidental in nature.

A man has died following a house fire on Elm just east of Hillcrest in Springfield Thursday morning.
Crews arrived around 7:30 a.m.
Crews found the man inside the home and pulled him outside.
CPR was being administered to the victim when KTTS Reporter Bailey Strohl arrived on scene.
Fire Chief David Pennington tells KTTS News the inside of the house has significant damage. No working smoke alarms were found.
The fire started in the attic, but there’s no word yet on what caused it.
He says no other people were hurt.
The fire was under control by 7:45 a.m.
