(Springfield’s News Talk 104.1) –  A man from Rolla was arrested after he allegedly shot a pharmacy worker during an attempted robbery.

The incident happened on Wednesday around 10:15 AM at Sinks Pharmacy.

Police say that a male subject entered the pharmacy with a rifle, demanded narcotics, and shot an employee. The subject then fled the scene.

Officers were able to locate the suspect and took the suspect into custody without further incident. No officers were injured during this incident.

The pharmacy worker was transported to a local hospital, for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was later identified as 41-year-old Justin M. Wonsewitz.

Wonsewitz  was arrested for 1st-degree assault, 1st Degree robbery, and armed criminal action.

Wonsewitz was incarcerated in the Phelps County Jail pending formal charges. Additional charges will be considered at a later date.

Agencies assisting in this incident include the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri S & T Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Rolla City Fire Department, and the Phelps Health Ambulance Crew.
