Rolla police are trying to cut down on alarm spread by students and parents alike in the school district after a supposed shooting threat circled the social circles via Snapchat on Sunday.
Students contacted authorities after a message said there would be a school shooting on Monday—and not to go to school.
Police managed to find the original recipients of the message, and the sender, and say they do not believe there is any threat of a school shooting. In fact, officers believe it was done as a joke.
Extra officers will be at the school Monday as a precaution.
