It took police in Springfield about three hours to locate the parents of a little girl found wandering in a park at Fort and State.
Officers say the child, between two and three years old, had a soiled diaper and was unattended.
A passerby stayed with the girl for an hour to see if a parent arrived before calling police.
Authorities are crediting a vigilant community for helping them find the parents around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.
It’s not known if the parents will face any criminal charges.
