(KTTS News) — A mother and her wife are charged with the disappearance of three children in Springfield.
The Greene County prosecutor has charged Brittany Barnes and Ceairah Beverly with three counts of interference with custody or removed from the state.
Police say Barnes took Ryder Green, 10, Resean Green, 9, and Ramello Green, 8, from their legal guardian, Beverly’s mother, on March 23.
Authorities say Barnes told the guardian she was taking the kids to a court appearance, but they never showed up.
Police believe the women took the kids to Arizona.
The children’s EBT/food stamp card was used at a Walmart in the Phoenix area.
Police contacted Barnes’ mother, who lives in Arizona.
KY3 says she first said the women and the kids were in Arizona, but later refused to cooperated in the investigation.
