Columbus Shooting: 

CNN’s Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo defended the officer who fatally shot a teenage girl caught on police bodycam video swinging a knife at other females during a fight in front of a Columbus, Ohio.

George Floyd: 

A Massachusetts police department is under fire for a social media. The post read “Chauvin immediately stood and calmly placed his hands behind his back. Imagine where we’d be if George had done the same.”

D.C. Statehood: 

Last night, the House passed legislation to make Washington, D.C., the 51st state.

Asian Hate Crime Bill: 

The Senate passed an Asian hate crimes bill Thursday, aimed at addressing the spike in attacks targeting the Asian-American community. Republican Sen. Josh Hawley is the only senator to vote in opposition to the bill.

Transgender Athletes:

KY3 has an article titled “Missouri House votes to ban transgender athletes on girls teams.” Nick and Tom read the article and talk about how misleading the headline is.

Gov. Whitmer: 

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has been strict with lockdowns, masks, and closing businesses. WELL… SHE went to Florida.

Turns out, Gov. Whitmer lied about not traveling out of state in a podcast interview last week, saying she was “here in town the whole time.”

Universities: 

Senate Democrats blocked an amendment to the new COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act that would have barred universities that discriminate against Asian Americans from accessing federal funding.
